Première Eglise Baptiste Haïtienne De Manhattan (First Haitian Church of Manhattan) has been in existence since 1978. It was founded by Sr. Amelia Jeanty along with a small group of first generation Haitian immigrants. It was founded as Haitian immigrants searched for a common place of worship to praise God Almighty in our native language. Led by the Holy Spirit the founding members stablish a place of worship to accommodate those who lived in Manhattan.
They worshiped in a rented a space until the leaders were able to purchase the current property in 1991which is located at the heart of Harlem. Since then this small group has and still continue to grow into the approximate 250 member community it is today.
